Gonçalo Gaspar, a 22-year-old student at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, is starting an internship this week with the VFA team in Coimbra to get acquainted with the daily reality of working in a law firm.

This internship is part of the National Internship Program (Programa Nacional de Estágios – PEN) — now in its 4th edition — in partnership with the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA) Portugal.

PEN is a collaborative program among all Law Faculties in Portugal, aiming to contribute to the territorial cohesion of opportunities and to bridge the gap between the job market and future Portuguese jurists.

ELSA is the largest European association of young law students and jurists. Its main objectives are to promote the legal, civic, cultural, and scientific education of its members, as well as their cooperation in the academic and professional fields; to develop exchanges between students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and other law students from different countries in Europe; and to foster the connection between the University and the professional environment.

The devil is in the details.
