“AI Act – O Novo Regulamento de Inteligência Artificial Europeu” [“AI Act – The New European Artificial Intelligence Regulation”] is the latest title from Almedina Publishing, addressing one of the most impactful and potentially far-reaching topics of our time: Artificial Intelligence—and its regulation.

A work coordinated by André Alfar Rodrigues, João Almeida, and João Luz Soares, in which VFA lawyer João Mota da Costa was invited to contribute.

According to the publisher, this book “brings together reflections from renowned academics and professionals, exploring in depth the multiple aspects of this pioneering regulation. The work provides a detailed insight into topics such as prohibited practices in AI systems, the high risks associated with their implementation, and the protection of fundamental rights in an increasingly digitalized society. Additionally, it discusses the intersections between the AI Act and other areas of law, from intellectual property to its impact on the financial sector, public governance, and labor relations.”

The chapter authored by João Mota da Costa is titled “A Optimização dos Processos de Insolvência e Recuperação Através do Recurso a Soluções de Inteligência Artificial – Uma Abordagem Prática” [“Optimizing Insolvency and Recovery Processes Through the Use of Artificial Intelligence Solutions – A Practical Approach”].

The devil is in the details.
